Saints fans love Adam Blackmore update

Southampton fans are delighted after journalist Adam Blackmore revealed Ibrahima Diallo, Kyle Walker-Peters and Takumi Minamino all have a chance of playing this weekend.

The Saints face Sheffield United on Saturday as they look to get back to winning ways – they have won just one of their last 14 games in the Premier League (Sky Sports). After a positive start to the season, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men have struggled to deal with a huge number of injuries.

However, there appears to be some positive news ahead of the clash with the Blades. Blackmore has revealed on Twitter that the aforementioned trio are all back in training and should be available this weekend. Minamino could provide a spark up front while Diallo and Walker-Peters would look to bring some much-needed stability at the back.

The St. Mary’s Stadium outfit’s fans were delighted with this update, and they took to the social media platform to share their thoughts.

Let’s see what the fans had to say about the update from Blackmore below

Why Man Utd must sign Branthwaite

According to The Daily Mail, Manchester United are one of several sides said to be hot on the heels of Everton’s £1.8m-rated centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite.

What’s the word?

Branthwaite, who is currently on loan at Blackburn Rovers, finds himself on the Red Devils’ radar after excelling in the Championship this season thus far.

The 18-year-old has caught the eye after impressing at Ewood Park and it is believed a number of other unnamed clubs have kept tabs on the young centre-back.

The Mail have claimed Solskjaer wants to fend off the stiff competition for Branthwaite’s signature. His contract at Goodison Park is set to expire in 2022.

Eventual successor to Harry Maguire?

Despite his age, Branthwaite has arguably led from the back during his loan spell at Blackburn, just like Harry Maguire did at Sheffield United, racking up seven appearances for the Rovers since joining the club in January.

Maguire has now established himself as an integral part of Solskjaer’s side, marshalling his troops from the heart of the defence – this season alone has seen him start and feature in every single Premier League fixture so far.

In the teenager, Solskjaer could find someone very similar to the 27-year-old, despite their obvious differences in age, especially when you consider just how well he has performed for Tony Mowbray’s side this season.

The England U19 international is averaging an impressive 2.7 tackles and 2.3 interceptions per game, which ranks him very favourably when you compare him to the club captain, who himself has only managed 0.8 tackles and 1.7 interceptions per 90 in the Premier League, via WhoScored.

In fact, only Aaron Wan-Bissaka has averaged more tackles per match with 3.1, while no other player can better his interception success rate.

But Ed Woodward may have his work cut out should he try to bring him to Old Trafford in the summer, as Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly a ‘big fan’ of the teenage prospect.

By getting him, however, he could land a player who has shown that he is fully capable of playing second-fiddle to the likes of Maguire and Victor Lindelof for a fraction of the price it would’ve cost to sign a player like Dayot Upamecano.

Bye Benteke: Crystal Palace must return for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard

Crystal Palace were on the receiving end of a 2-0 drubbing by Wolves as Roy Hodgson’s side started off slowly at Molineux on Friday night. Palace loan signing Michy Batshuayi struggled to make much of an impression before he was replaced by Christian Benteke – although he was by no means the only player at fault for the poor performance.

What’s the story?

According to The Sun’s Alan Nixon, Palace are facing an exodus of players with thirteen of them coming out of contract next term. Hodgson has some big decisions to make as several senior members of the squad have entered the final few months of their deals.

It’s claimed that former Aston Villa frontman Benteke could be departing Selhurst Park along with Connor Wickham when their contracts run out in the summer. So, Palace chairman Steve Parish must return for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard in the winter transfer window.

Bye Benteke

Reports in recent times revealed that the Eagles were interested in signing the £13.5m-rated centre-forward as a potential Benteke replacement. The report by The Times suggested that Palace were prepared to sell the Belgium international in the summer, but a move failed to materialise, so they went back to the drawing board.

Hodgson and Parish embarked on a summer spending spree, splashing out on the likes of Batshuayi and former Queens Park Rangers winger Eberechi Eze, whilst they also brought in Nathan Ferguson from West Bromwich Albion.

Goals have started to dry up in spite of the new signings, as Batshuayi has failed to find the back of the net so far, although in fairness that isn’t for want of trying, whilst Wilfried Zaha is the club’s leading goalscorer in all competitions, having scored five times in total, via Transfermarkt.

But the 17-cap Ivory Coast international needs someone who can share the burden of scoring goals and Edouard is a player who can do precisely just that.

Once hailed as an “exceptional” player by football journalist David Tanner, Edouard was recently described by Celtic boss Neil Lennon as a “special talent” after his hat-trick against Hamilton.

The 22-year-old has bagged 66 goals in over 100 appearances for the Bhoys, via Transfermarkt. By comparison, Benteke has only scored 23 goals in 118 games for the Eagles.

Just imagine the chaos he could cause alongside Zaha – it almost doesn’t bear to think about. Getting rid of the Belgian would make room for the 6-cap France U21 international in the first team instead.

AND in other news, Steve Parish must convince Crystal Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell to sign new contract…

Bye-bye Hagi: Rangers must sanction audacious swoop for Celtic target Tom Ince

Glasgow Rangers have already made some serious moves in the transfer market as they try to close the gap on Celtic and it appears they are about to steal a march on their closest rivals…

What’s the word?

According to TEAMtalk, the Old Firm giants have expressed their interest in midfielder Tom Ince, although they face competition from Premier League side West Bromwich Albion.

Ince hasn’t featured for Stoke City at all so far this season and it seems the Potters boss Michael O’Neill has told him he is surplus to requirements.

As it stands both Jacob Brown and Tommy Smith are ahead of the former England U21 international in the pecking order and it appears as though he will be allowed to leave on loan.

It remains to be seen how much it will cost to prise Ince away from the bet365 Stadium on a permanent basis with the 28-year-old valued at £4m on Transfermarkt, a dramatic decrease on his valuation the previous year, which came to around about £9m.

Bye-Bye Hagi?

But who would be the better option on the right-hand side – the young prospect Ianis Hagi or the former Liverpool man?

It’s no secret that Gerrard desperately needs a midfield player who can chip in with goals – Alfredo Morelos scored 12 goals himself in the Scottish Premiership last season, while Hagi has only scored once so far.

In fact, it could be argued that Hagi has failed to hit the same heights he enjoyed during his loan spell last season.

Ince is no longer the first choice for his club which should give the Gers some encouragement. Over the course of his career, he has barely been injured at all which speaks volumes as Jordan Jones has only recently recovered from an injury problem.

While it is fair to say his time at the bet365 Stadium hasn’t been the most exciting, he has still managed to score or assist 20 goals in 81 games for Stoke.

Perhaps all he really needs is a change of scenery to rediscover the form that saw him win the 2013 Football League Young Player Of The Year award.

His old boss Ian Holloway once claimed that he is a “fantastic” player – surely a mere £4m is worth the risk?

Rangers interim chairman Douglas Park should submit a bid for Ince before it is too late, especially as Celtic are closely monitoring the situation.

Tottenham Hotspur: Jose Mourinho personally contacts Reguilon, Spurs could consider move

According to a report from Spanish outlet AS, via Sport Witness, Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has personally contacted Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon over a potential move to north London – and the defender’s pedigree leaves little wonder why the club are now taking an interest.

Indeed, per this report, Reguilon is attracting interest from Spurs, Chelsea and Man United – with the Lilywhites now allegedly on the ‘lookout’ over his signature.

Spending last campaign on loan at Sevilla, the youngster thoroughly impressed under manager Julen Lopetegui, starting 29 La Liga matches for the club and helping them to a Europa League triumph over Inter Milan.

Now, due to his noteworthy outings, clubs are considering a move despite his £31.7 million valuation – and AS now claim Mourinho is attempting to jump ahead in the queue.

The paper report, as relayed by Sport Witness, states that Tottenham’s manager is personally trying to persuade Reguilon over a move, and it’s little wonder why considering the Portuguese has been a big fan in the past.

When doing punditry work, covering two El Clasicos back in 2019 for beIN Sports via molineuxmix, Mourinho chastised many of the Real Madrid players’ performances over the defeats to Barcelona – but one man who received his admiration was none other than Reguilon.

Indeed, the ex-Chelsea boss praised his ‘desire’ during the encounter, and now it appears Mourinho would like to bring that same energy to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

A marauding full-back who is adept on the overlap, Reguilon averages more crosses into the box than Spurs star Son Heung-min, potentially evidence that he can also provide much needed-threat going forward (WhoScored).

Sheffield United: John Egan models new away kit in Instagram post

The 2020/21 Premier League season is only a month away as it plans to start on the 12th September, and fans of Sheffield United will be keeping a close eye on the club over the summer to see what signings they make.

However, one thing they now know is what the kits the club will be wearing next season. Indeed, following the release of the home kit last week, supporters of the club have now been shown the away strip.

One of the players who has shown Blades fans the new kit is defender John Egan. The centre-back played 36 games in the league last term, scoring two goals, but more importantly he was involved in all 13 clean sheets that the Blades have kept in the division, per Transfermarkt.

He has clearly been a vital player for the club this season and his new Instagram

/CDt2HykljBx/”>post of himself in the new pink away kit has gone down very well with fans, who clearly love the design judging by the comments on his post.

The Irishman clearly loves it as well as he supported the picture with the caption: ‘New away kit is 🔥’. Hopefully the club can perform just as well next season in the new kits as they did in the 2019/20 campaign, as they finished ninth and only five points away from a European spot.

Blades fans, what are your thoughts on the kit? Let us know down below!
