Rangers: Beale Keen To Sign "Lethal" £20k-p/w Marksman

An update has emerged on Glasgow Rangers and their plans to improve their squad in the upcoming summer transfer window…

What's the latest on Karlan Grant to Rangers?

Mirror journalist Darren Witcoop has revealed that the Light Blues are keen on West Bromwich Albion attacker, who is set to be available in the coming weeks.

He tweeted:

"West Brom will listen to offers for striker Karlan Grant this summer. Grant has Championship admirers while Scottish side Rangers have registered an interest. Grant signed a six year deal when he joined the Baggies for £15m in 2020 but he can now leave Albion."

However, it remains to be seen how much the Championship side are set to demand for his services as the attacker still has three years left to run on his contract.

Who could replace Antonio Colak at Rangers?

The Sun recently reported that the Gers are willing to listen to offers for Antonio Colak this summer and Michael Beale could ruthlessly ditch the Croatian international by signing Grant as his replacement.

Rangers forward Antonio Colak.

Three goals in his last 15 Scottish Premiership appearances have left the forward out of favour under the Light Blues head coach and his struggles since Beale's arrival make a parting of the ways seem like the right decision.

Colak has only scored three of his 17 goals this season since Giovanni van Bronckhorst was relieved of his duties during the break for the World Cup and bringing the West Brom attacker in would open the door for the ex-PAOK man to move on.

Grant has struggled for goals this season in the Championship, with three strikes in 18 starts, but has showcased his ability at that level in previous campaigns.

The centre-forward racked up 18 goals and 12 'big chances' created in 41 starts for the Baggies in the second tier of English football last term and managed 19 goals and six 'big chances' provided in 42 starts for Huddersfield in the division in 2020/21.

These statistics suggest that his woes this term are a flash in the pan and do not reflect the 25-year-old's true quality, which could result in Rangers getting a bargain deal for a talented player if West Brom value him based on his present form.

The £20k-per-week gem, who journalist Ben McKenna once hailed as "lethal", could rediscover his best form in Scotland in the same way that Todd Cantwell, who made a similar move from Norwich in January, has.

Since arriving from Carrow Road, the 25-year-old has scored three goals and provided four assists in 12 Premiership matches after failing to register a goal or assist in 18 Championship outings in the first half of the campaign.

This shows that Beale can get the best out of underperforming players coming from that level of football and the head coach could now ditch Colak by doing the same with Grant next season.

Leeds Rejected By "World-Class" Manager

Leeds United made contact with Mauricio Pochettino over a stunning move to Elland Road, according to Guillem Balague.

What’s Balague had to say about Leeds and Pochettino?

The Whites are currently on their fourth head coach of the season in Sam Allardyce, following on from Jesse Marsch, Michael Skubala and Javi Gracia.

Leeds find themselves in real danger of relegation from the Premier League and have just two games remaining to get out of the bottom three in what has been another disappointing campaign in Yorkshire.

After sacking Marsch back in February, it took Leeds a number of weeks to bring in a new manager, and it appears as if Pochettino, who has been out of work since leaving Paris Saint-Germain in July, was on the radar.

Balague was speaking about Pochettino in a column for the BBC ahead of his proposed move to Stamford Bridge.

He stated that Leeds, along with Aston Villa, Athletic Bilbao, Benfica, Nice, Nottingham Forest, Sevilla and Villarreal all got in contact over moves for the 51-year-old. Pochettino wasn’t short of offers and even initially turned down Chelsea until he was offered more control by Todd Boehly.

Touted Chelsea managerMauricio Pochettino

Never likely…

Pochettino looks set to return to the dugout ahead of the 2023/24 season at Chelsea, and you could argue that Leeds were dreaming when thinking he may be tempted to make the move to Elland Road.

The Argentine, who plays an attacking 4-3-3 formation, is close to 600 games as a manager and has been used to European football with Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain.

Hailed as “world-class” in the media, Pochettino has been linked with some of the biggest clubs in the world such as Real Madrid, a job he was reportedly holding out for. However, it looks as if he will move to Chelsea, who appear to be building for the future with a €1bn+ valued playing squad, as per Transfermarkt.

Meanwhile, Leeds appear to be a side heading in the opposite direction and could find themselves in the second tier next season, so it wasn’t exactly a surprise to hear they were unsuccessful after contacting Pochettino, presumably earlier in the year.

It will be interesting to see who Leeds target in the summer to replace their current interim head coach, but relegation over the coming weeks could change those plans drastically, with Feyenoord’s Arne Slot thought to be a target after leading his side to the Eredivisie title.

£110k-a-week Star Joining Newcastle Now A Possibility

Newcastle United are 'one to watch' in the race for Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney this summer as Eddie Howe goes about strengthening his squad, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

What's the latest transfer news involving Kieran Tierney?

As per Football Insider, Newcastle United are said to be in 'pole position' to sign Tierney this summer and is regarded by the Magpies as a 'top target' for the summer.

Aston Villa and Manchester City are also keen to secure his signature, though the Scotland international would prefer a move that would see him be closer to his family in Scotland.

FootballTransfers have reported that Tierney has been touted as being part of a potential swap deal with regard to Manchester City's attraction towards the 25-year-old, who could head to the Etihad in an exchange that may see Citizens' full-back Joao Cancelo head to the Emirates in return.

The Sun claim that a move to Newcastle United is seen as an 'increasingly likely' prospect in the forthcoming transfer window, with £30 million believed to be enough to seal an agreement.

Capology understand Tierney earns around £110,000 per week at the Gunners on a contract that runs until June 2026.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Jacobs has indicated that Newcastle United are a significant player in the race to sign Tierney this summer.

Jacobs said: "I think Newcastle are one to watch there, simply because left-back is an area where I think Eddie Howe can still strengthen. Matt Targett and Dan Burn have been playing on the left-hand side, but I still think that somebody like Tierney would be an upgrade for Newcastle United.

"So that one could be a possibility in terms of an outgoing [at Arsenal], but that will depend on Tierney, really, because Arsenal really rate Tierney. It's just a case of whether or not he's happy with his squad role at this point."

Would Kieran Tierney be a good signing for Newcastle United?

Tierney, who has been hailed as "immense" by the Daily Record, has earned a reputation as a passionate, hardworking consistent performer at Arsenal and would be a brilliant asset for Newcastle United heading into 2023/24 if he was to move to the North East.

In 2022/23, the former Celtic man has made 35 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners, registering one goal and two assists, as per Transfermarkt.

As per FBRef, Tierney has also maintained a tackle success rate of 80% regarding oncoming dribblers, illustrating his ability to dispossess his opponent regularly.

Dan Burn has predominantly featured at left-back for Newcastle United; however, Tierney would be a high-profile upgrade on the Blyth-born man who would add some extra steel to the Magpies ahead of next term, which may well see the Toon Army return to the Champions League stage for the first time since 2003/04.

New Zealand arrive in Zimbabwe for two-Test series

New Zealand’s Test squad arrived in Zimbabwe on Wednesday for a two-match series, ending the uncertainty over the tour that had emerged in the wake of widespread protests in Zimbabwe over civil and economic issues. The 15-man squad led by Kane Williamson had undergone a week-long conditioning camp in South Africa and are now in Harare for a three-day warm-up fixture starting on July 22.”It’s nice to finally be here. We had a good tour here last year, so I’m sure it will be much the same,” Tom Latham, the New Zealand opener, said upon arrival in Harare. “It was a good week of preparation for us in South Africa.”It was good to catch up with the guys. We want to win every game, like we do on most tours. “It’s nice to have everyone back, everyone is fully fit. We’ll get the warm-up game out of the way and then focus on the two Tests.”New Zealand Cricket had said earlier this month that they were monitoring the security situation in Zimbabwe following a nationwide strike to protest the lack of jobs and unpaid wages, which had left the city streets deserted. Several other strikes – reportedly featuring the likes of civil servants, doctors, and teachers – have also taken place in the drought-hit country. The first Test begins on July 28, and the second is slated to start on August 6. Both Tests will be played at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

Arsenal Could Sign Their Own Harry Kane In £97m Monster

Arsenal are reportedly ready to look for reinforcements in the summer transfer window, as the successful 2022/23 campaign comes to an end.

The Gunners have three games remaining, and are still in with a chance of winning the Premier League title, should Manchester City make mistakes in their remaining fixtures.

It’s been a season to remember whether Mikel Arteta’s side clinch the title or not, with the Spaniard leading his side to their first top-two finish since 2015/16.

Next season will mark Arsenal’s first time back in the Champions League in six years, so as expected, ventures into the transfer market ahead of the summer window have already begun.

The Gunners have been shy of a goalscorer since the departure of Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang in 2022, and despite the arrival of Gabriel Jesus, Arteta’s side must find the missing piece in the form of a deadly marksman in the summer if they are to challenge Europe’s elite.

The north Londoners have been linked with a natural goalscorer in Serie A, who favours a move to the Premier League.

What’s the latest on Dusan Vlahovic to Arsenal?

Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic could be on the move this summer, with his representatives exploring options for a Premier League move, as understood by 90min.

It’s reported that the forward is expected to leave Turin after joining last summer, where he then received interest from Arsenal before signing for Juve from Fiorentina.

The Gunners look to be back amongst those on the list interested in the £96m-rated Serbian, as the club have kept “tabs on his situation” and wish to strengthen with “a number nine” ahead of next season – as per transfer expert Pete O’Rourke.

What can Vlahovic bring to Arsenal?

The powerful Serbia international has scored 94 goals in 216 career appearances at just 23 years old, proving his prolific nature in front of goal.

In his final season at Fiorentina – the year that first sparked Arsenal’s interest – the 6 foot 3 striker was one of the most prolific in Europe.

Dusan Vlahovic in action for Juventus.

Described by former Juve midfielder Alessio Tacchinardi as a "monster", the young forward remarkably averaged more non-penalty goals per 90 than Harry Kane, with 0.58 per game compared to the Englishman’s 0.36 that season.

Indeed, Vlahovic could well be Arsenal’s own Harry Kane should he make the switch in the summer, averaging close to the Tottenham forward in a number of attributes, and matching him this season for non-penalty expected goals per 90 minutes with 0.42 xG – as per FBref.

Although the Serb doesn't possess the same sort of creativity, the bullish forward plays in a very similar way to the Spurs man as he was breaking through, with the BBC's Raj Chohan previously commenting: "Vlahović is like the 2016-2018 era of Kane under Poch before he then started to drop and become a playmaker. He would clean up in a system that creates more chances."

The goal-scoring prowess of the Juve star is certainly something Arteta is in need of to take his side from title challengers to a team ready to compete in Europe, with the majority of his side’s goals coming from midfield rather than the number nine role.

Only time will tell if Arsenal can get their man, but if the move was to be successful, the Gunners could have a match-changing talent in the Kane mould in their ranks.

Spurs: Mason Must Ditch "Selfish" £90k-p/w Flop

This season certainly hasn't gone to plan for Richarlison at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Brazilian was signed for £60m from Everton last summer in the hope that he could compete with and support Spurs' formidable duo of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son but boasts just one goal in the Premier League so far this campaign.

How has Richarlison performed for Spurs?

After scoring his first top-flight goal in Tottenham colours off the bench against Liverpool, Richarlison was rewarded with starts against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa but showed very little in either appearance, earning 6.52 and 5.76 ratings from WhoScored for his performances.

Unfortunately for the 26-year-old, this has been a consistent theme across the season, with a woeful 6.43 average rating to his name across his 25 top-flight appearances, which ranks him as the 16th-best performer in Spurs' squad.

Considering the significant fee that was invested in him, something which has been a rarity under Daniel Levy, it is extremely disappointing that he has struggled so much, especially when you realise he managed three goals in four games at the World Cup as Brazil's starting striker.

Richarlison certainly isn't alone in being an underperforming attacker in Spurs' squad, as both Dejan Kulusevski and Heung-min Son have failed to replicate their displays from last season, with just 23 goal contributions between them in the league, compared to 43 in 2021/22.

However, it is perhaps the poor attitude of the former Watford man which has meant he has spent much of the season on the bench, with Antonio Conte dubbing him "selfish" after his outburst following the Champions League exit against AC Milan.

Should Richarlison be dropped against Brentford?

The controversial frontman simply hasn't offered enough when he has been on the pitch for Spurs, as he ranks sixth for shots, seventh for key passes and seventh for dribbles per game in the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur interim managerRyanMasonapplauds fans.

While this season has been an unmitigated disaster for Spurs, with their top-four hopes over and their trophy cabinet still gathering dust, they could still salvage a Europa League spot with positive results in their final two games.

Brentford today won't be an easy game given the impressive job Thomas Frank has done with the Bees, but Mason cannot rely on Harry Kane to bail him out once again, and needs to give the England captain the best possible support in attack.

Therefore, after failing to repay his faith in the two most recent games, Mason must drop the £90k-per-week flop for this afternoon's game in north London.

Presenter Slams Spurs Following Latest Development

Tottenham Hotspur's latest setback in their manager search is reminiscent of their failure two years ago, presenter Terry Flewers has claimed.

What's going on with Spurs' manager search?

It was reported on Thursday that one of the club's main targets, Feyenoord manager Arne Slot, was to sign an extension with the Dutch side following a breakdown in talks with Tottenham.

Spurs have now ruled out Julian Nagelsmann as well as Slot, and former coach Mauricio Pochettino is heading to rivals Chelsea.

Speaking on The Football Terrace, Flewers questioned the state of the club, claiming that the current mess reminds him of their drawn-out and ultimately disastrous manager search two years ago.

"Looking at Tottenham, Arne Slot, [it was] only a few days ago reported that him and Luis Enrique were the front runners, they moved on to Slot, it was close, it was advancing," he stated.

"It now appears he's going to sign a new deal at Feyenoord very soon. This agreement has been met during a meeting yesterday according to Fabrizio Romano.

"Slots decision won't change he will stay and won't join Tottenham, essentially he's rejected Tottenham Hotspur. So that's Pochettino, Nagelsmann, Slot, Enrique. What is going on at Tottenham?

"They're even being rejected, again, by the way, this reminds me of two summers ago, when they ended up with Nuno [Espirito Santo]. They're being rejected by managers that their fans don't even want."

"What is going on at Tottenham Hotspur? They've got the best stadium in the country, maybe the best stadium in Europe. Revenue now surpassing that of Arsenal.

"Why that's significant, is because the idea of increasing your revenues, growing your stadium, is so that money is invested into the team to make you really compete at the top end of the table, compete not just for Champions League positions, with the ability to win it, with the ability to win trophies, growing towards challenging for Premier League titles.

"That's the point supposedly, yet all this extra money can't attract a manager."

Who could Spurs move for now?

Ange Postecoglou of Celtic is now reportedly being eyed up by Daniel Levy at Spurs, and the 57-year-old would join having won back-to-back titles in Scotland.

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou.

Postecoglou has earned rave reviews for his style of play, which has seen Celtic score 109 league goals in 34 games this season, and his eye for talent, with some of his signings scouted from lesser-known leagues.

However, could his recruitment style be replicated at a side who have the ambition of competing regularly in the Champions League?

And given he has no experience of managing inside the top five European leagues or even England itself, would this be a potential appointment that would again fail to excite the Spurs faith?

It remains to be seen whether the Australian could handle the step-up to the Premier League, but whoever Spurs appoint needs to be given time and resources this summer to rebuild the squad.

Tottenham Plotting Stunning Move For "Remarkable" 56 y/o Manager

Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a stunning move for Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Julen Lopetegui, as well as sporting director Matt Hobbs, according to a report from Football Insider.

What's the latest Tottenham manager news?

With Julian Nagelsmann reportedly out of the running to take over at Tottenham, the club's hierarchy have identified alternative options in recent days, recently being linked with a move for Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi.

Spurs have held agent talks with the Italian, but it is as yet unclear whether he would be interested in a move to the Premier League, given that he is doing a fantastic job with Inter, who are in a great position to qualify for the Champions League final.

Thomas Frank has previously been touted for a move to N17 by journalist Alasdair Gold, and now Daniel Levy appears to be keen on another manager who has performed well in the Premier League this season.

According to a report from Football Insider, the Lilywhites are plotting a stunning double swoop for Lopetegui and Hobbs to fill their manager and sporting director roles at the end of the season.

The Spaniard has impressed during his time with Wolves, leading the Old Gold to safety with three games to spare, after taking over when they were bottom of the Premier League table.

It is detailed that the 56-year-old would tick a lot of boxes for Tottenham, as he has experience managing at the highest level, while Hobbs is also highly-regarded as a sporting director, playing a key role during the January transfer window.

Should Tottenham appoint Lopetegui?

The Asteasu-born coach has done a fantastic job to turn Wolves around in the second half of the season, averaging 1.43 points-per match in the top flight, a huge increase on the figure of 0.75 from his predecessor Bruno Lage.

Not only that, but the former Sevilla boss has a wealth of experience at the top level, leading his former club to a Europa League triumph in 2020, while he has also had stints in charge of Spain and Real Madrid.

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Julen Lopetegui after the Old Gold's defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League.

Hailed as "remarkable" by football writer Colin Millar, the Wolves boss could be a savvy appointment for Spurs, given that he has now proven himself at Premier League level.

However, given that Lopetegui penned a three-year deal with the Old Gold back in November, it may be hard to prise him away from his current club.
