Any lingering hopes the Melbourne Renegades had that they would sneak into the Big Bash League semi-finals were extinguished at the Docklands Stadium as they slid to a 22-run defeat at the hands of the Adelaide Strikers, who confirmed their spot at the top of the table.A very special innings of 71 from just 34 balls from Travis Head elevated the Strikers to 5 for 166, which proved too much for the Renegades who never really threatened to hunt down that target.The Strikers’ batting this season has been defined by the aggressive starts provided by Craig Simmons and Tim Ludeman, but today, in a stadium with drop-in pitches that has seen two team-scores of less than 100 in consecutive matches, the Strikers opted for caution in the Powerplay.Such care made little difference to the score as a superb start with the ball and in the field from the Renegades set the Strikers back to 3 for 27. James Pattinson bowled all four of his overs in one spell, conceding just three runs from his first 19 deliveries before leaking two boundaries in his final over to finish with 1 for 12, taking the wicket of Simmons in the fifth over with a delivery that shaped away to find the edge.Ludeman also fell in the Powerplay for a 10-ball 4 when Fawad Ahmed’s direct hit from the deep caught the batsman short of a second run. Two balls later, Ryan ten Doeschate was dismissed, dragging on a delivery from Nathan Rimmington that was angled in and jagged away. The Strikers’ understandable but uncharacteristic caution had left them no better off.Ten Doeschate’s departure brought together 21-year-old Head and the 20 year-old debutant Kelvin Smith, and the young pair consolidated and later accelerated the Strikers innings to forge a record fourth-wicket stand.Head kick-started his innings with fours through mid-on and mid-wicket in the seventh over, but he and Smith both continued with caution and then pro-activity. Head’s innings unfurled after his first 13 deliveries from which he had scored just 15 runs. An all-out assault on Ben Stokes in the 12th over saw the first three balls hit for six; the second an outrageous lofted cover drive. While Smith could do little more than rotate the strike on a tacky pitch, Head transcended the conditions to play one of the innings of the season.More remarkable shots followed, as a slashing cut through point, a clubbed straight six and a clip over the infield took Head to his second fifty of the season. After a sedate start, he had accelerated to score 56 from his last 21 balls. He eventually fell when he failed to clear Stokes at deep mid-wicket, but the match had been turned upside down by his audacious and powerful stroke play.Two further overs of consolidation then followed, as Johan Botha joined Smith for the fifth wicket. Botha clubbed two fours and a six before he was caught attempting another boundary off a reverse sweep in the penultimate delivery of the innings. Smith, though, remained unbeaten, finishing on 41 from 34 balls. More importantly, he expertly anchored the final nine overs of the innings in which the Strikers bludgeoned 104 runs for the loss of just two wickets.The Renegades needed to not only win, but win well to keep their qualification chances alive. They never looked like doing either. A painful innings from Matthew Wade – 22 from 34 deliveries including 16 dot balls – epitomised the Renegades’ struggles as they failed to establish any momentum.They lost both Alex Doolan and Callum Ferguson before the Powerplay was over, and once they were behind the rate when they exited it at 2 for 39, their chances were already slipping away as the Strikers deployed their spinners.Adam Zampa and Botha have both conceded runs at less than six per over during the middle overs this season, and they put the squeeze on again today despite some powerful hitting from Stokes, who made 33 before falling to the leg-spin of Zampa. Wade’s 34-ball innings was ended just two overs later, and there was a sense that the Renegades had already given up real hope. Shakib and Tom Beaton hit some lusty late blows, but the target was always out of reach as they eventually closed their innings with 7 for 144.Defeat for the Renegades completes the semi-final line-up of the Strikers, Perth Scorchers, Melbourne Stars and Sydney Sixers, with another home semi-final still up for grabs.

وقد أعلن الاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم “يويفا” بالتعاون مع مجموعة أموري، المالكة لشركتي الإعلام فرانس فوتبول وليكيب، عن تعاونهما المشترك لتنظيم جائزة الكرة الذهبية اعتبارًا من عام 2024.

تُمنح جائزة الكرة الذهبية سنويًا من قبل فرانس فوتبول منذ عام 1956، لأفضل لاعب كرة قدم. 

وكجزء من الاتفاقية، تظل مجموعة أموري مالكة العلامة التجارية للكرة الذهبية وستستمر في الإشراف على نظام التصويت.

الجوائز المقدمة ستكون الكرة الذهبية للرجال والكرة الذهبية للسيدات، جائزة كوبا (أفضل لاعب تحت 21 عامًا)، جائزة ياشين (أفضل حارس مرمى)، جائزة جيرد مولر (الهداف)، جائزة نادي الموسم للرجال، وجائزة نادي الموسم للسيدات، وجائزة سقراط (العمل الإنساني).

ونظام التصويت سيبقى دون تغيير، مع استحداث جائزتين لأفضل مدرب ومدربة، وحفل الجوائز السنوي سيكون من تنظيم الـ يويفا.

وصرّح ألكسندر تشيفرين رئيس يويفا: “على مدى ما يقرب من 70 عامًا، ظلت جائزة الكرة الذهبية بمثابة الجائزة الفردية المرموقة في عالم كرة القدم وهي شهادة على المهارة غير العادية والتفاني والتأثير لأساطير اللعبة وبصماتهم الدائمة على تاريخ الرياضة”.

وأضاف: “تعتبر مسابقات الأندية والمنتخبات الوطنية التابعة للاتحاد الأوروبي، مثل دوري أبطال أوروبا وكأس الأمم الأوروبية، بمثابة أعلى المراحل العالمية للاعبين النخبة، وغالبًا ما تلعب دورًا حاسمًا في ترشيح اللاعبين للحصول على الألقاب الكبرى ومكانتهم في كرة القدم. والكرة الذهبية مرادف للتميز الرياضي، لذا فإن شراكتنا ستكون مزيجًا طبيعيًا من الشهرة والتآزر الذي يعد بأن يكون استثنائيًا”.

وأدلى جان إتيان أموري، الرئيس التنفيذي لمجموعة أموري بتصريح قائلاً :”الكرة الذهبية هي جائزة الحلم لأعظم اللاعبين في العالم”.

وأضاف: “نريد أن نجعل حفل توزيع جوائز الكرة الذهبية حدثًا عالميًا يعرض ويسلط الضوء على مواهب لاعبي كرة القدم رفيعي المستوى في أدائهم الفردي والجماعي، لإلهام جميع المواهب في كرة القدم ويهدف إلى الجمع بين شغف وحماس لاعبي كرة القدم، المشجعين من جميع أنحاء العالم”.

جدير بالذكر أن فرانس فوتبول كانت تقدم حفل الكرة الذهبية بشراكة مع الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم “فيفا”، وانفصلا قبل سنوات.

Allrounder Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the remainder of the Test series in Australia due to a shoulder injury and will return to India to undergo rehabilitation. Akshar Patel, the Gujarat left-arm spinner, will replace Jadeja in the squad for the remaining two Tests.Jadeja did not play in the first two Tests in Adelaide and Brisbane, and only featured in the tour game against Cricket Australia XI in Adelaide. He has been ruled out for three to four weeks, according to BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel. “The selectors will decide upon his World Cup selection based on his recovery till the selection committee meets,” Sanjay Patel said.Akshar has played nine ODIs since his debut against Bangladesh in June this year, taking 14 wickets at an average of 20.28, and economy rate of 4.49. He has taken seven wickets in the Ranji Trophy 2014-15 so far, including a four-for against Saurashtra in the ongoing game in Rajkot. He is expected to leave for Australia after the Ranji Trophy match.

A fractured finger had kept Rohit out of the side since August, but he returned to competitive cricket with a 111-ball 145 against the Sri Lankan side in a practice match, and is now set to play in the fourth ODI in Kolkata.”It’s great to have Rohit back, because a player like him, if he gets going, he can be the X-factor in the World Cup,” Kohli said. “He can win games for you and get those big runs. We know how lethal he is at the end of the innings. His value to the team is massive.”Kohli backed Rohit to make a brisk return to form, despite the frustration of a layoff that had been twice as long as originally anticipated, due to a complication during recovery. Rohit also provided excellent support to others, in the dressing room, and on the field, Kohli said.”The good thing about Rohit is that he doesn’t really change himself or his game according to successes or failures. That’s one of his biggest strengths. These two games and the tri-series in Australia will really help him come back to his groove at the top of the order. Four of India’s fast bowlers, including Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami, are unavailable for this series, but the attack’s ability to pose a menace nevertheless means fast-bowling is becoming an “area of strength” for India, Kohli said.”Umesh is someone that I believed, if he gets more consistency in his bowling, he’d be right up there with the best bowlers in the world. He’s got the fitness, he’s got the strength, and he’s a naturally strong guy. He bowls at pace, swings the ball, has a rhythmic smooth action, and is a great fielder. He’s got everything – just that consistency bit was lacking in the beginning. Now he’s much smarter as a bowler. With the new ball his consistency has improved miles and I’ve been really impressed with him.”The all out pace attack is something we will look forward to in the coming months. That’s an area of strength we want to build as an Indian team, which will be a change of character for us. In the past, we haven’t really had two bowlers who bowl 150 plus with the new ball (Varun Aaron and Yadav), and another guy who is 6’4″ and can get the bounce (Ishant Sharma).”

Former South Africa fast bowler Allan Donald, who had verbally committed to becoming New Zealand’s fast bowling coach, has withdrawn from the role as he is seeking a position with Cricket South Africa.New Zealand Cricket chief executive, Justin Vaughan, said Donald had contacted NZC over the weekend to inform them of his sudden change of heart. “We did everything possible to retain Allan but it is understandable that a role in South Africa would be attractive to both him and his family,” Vaughan said in a statement.”Unfortunately that is the nature of professional sport and although I understand the reasons for Allan’s decision, it is disappointing considering the positive discussions we had with Allan about moving to New Zealand and his desire to work with the team. It is also a disappointment as he contributed well during the ten-week stint he had with the team earlier in the year.”Donald had worked with New Zealand on a contract basis from January this year till the end of the World Cup. He was in the running for the Australia bowling coach job, but after he lost out to former Australia fast bowler Craig McDermott last month, had said he wanted to “commit” to New Zealand.Speculation has grown over the last couple of days that Gary Kirsten, who recently coached India with great success, is set to take over as head coach of the South African team, with Donald assisting him as the bowling coach.
