O jornalistaWianey Carlet foi demitido do ‘Grupo RBS’ após proferir insultos à Paulo Sant’Ana, que faleceu no último mês de julho. Ao vivo na Rádio Gaúcha, o jornalista disse não sentir a morte do companheiro de profissão e o xingou, logo em seguida:

— Eu confesso que não senti (a morte de Paulo Sant’Ana). Achava o Sant’Ana muito filho da p**a.— disparou o jornalista que não sabia que estava ao vivo— Meu Deus eu estava fazendo uma piada e boto no ar, tudo.— finalizou Wianey Carlet, após ser reprimido pela declaração.

A ‘RBS’ divulgou uma nota oficial comunicando a demissão do jornalista, que segundo eles, não está mais alinhado ao posicionamento da empresa. Wianey tinha uma coluna diária, no ‘Jornal Zero Hora’, que agora será assinada por Pedro Ernesto Denardin. No programa ‘Super Sábado’, da Rádio Gaúcha,Fernando Zanuzo ocupará o lugar de Wianey, ao lado de Andressa Xavier e o elenco de ‘Sala de Redação’ não será modificado.

Há 22 anos no Grupo RBS, Wianey publicou um famoso artigo, em seu blog, comparando Messi ao jovem jogador Taison Freda, em 2009. No texto, o jornalista sugeria que em 10 anos o questionamento “quem foi melhor, Messi ou Taison?”, seria possível.

Pakistan has embarked on a diplomatic bid to retrieve what benefits it still can from the 2011 World Cup and narrow the widening rift that seems to have developed between it and the Asian bloc, after the ICC unanimously voted last month that Pakistan would not be the location for any of the matches.Following the initiation of legal action by the PCB against the decision, a way forward seems to be emerging. Ijaz Butt, the PCB chairman, is on a trip to meet counterparts in Sri Lanka, and possibly India, and the ICC now says that Pakistan’s hosting rights were never taken away from them, only the matches.On Thursday, the ICC issued a rejoinder to Pakistan’s legal claims, highlighting various “factual inaccuracies and misunderstandings”. In a point-by-point reply, Haroon Lorgat, the ICC chief executive, clarified that the ICC board had removed Pakistan as host location, not the PCB as joint host for the World Cup; Pakistan’s removal as a host location was on the ICC Board’s agenda; and the ICC board has the power to make such decisions.The less-than-clear stance on hosting, however, suggests that there is some wriggle room for all parties to operate within. One possibility could be that Pakistan’s share of matches move to Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Though PCB officials talked of making such a proposal soon after the April meeting, nothing, apparently, has come of it. “The ICC has never received any proposals from the PCB on alternate venues so we cannot speculate on how the ICC Board would deal with any requests,” an ICC spokesperson told Cricinfo. There is, it is understood however, considerable opposition to this move among some ICC members, particularly India.There also exists the option of some kind of a financial-sharing arrangement of the event’s hosting fee with India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, the other co-hosts. The host for each World Cup match receives US$750,000 from the ICC for the “extra work”, 100% of gate receipts and 100% of money raised through hospitality.The host board also gets a 7.5% share of distributions from the event, which is worked out on the basis of 75% of the amount being divided between the ten full members of the ICC and 25% for the developing cricket world. “Hosting fees are only paid for hosting matches,” the ICC spokesperson said, but added that “financial sharing is a matter for the co-hosts to firstly consider and then for the ICC Board to agree.”Much will depend, however, on Butt’s meetings with his co-hosts. Ehsan Mani, former ICC president and an advisor to Pakistan in the current dispute, has maintained that the PCB needs to keep back-channel communications open and the board seems to have taken the advice on board.Butt left Thursday and is already in Sri Lanka, before he heads to Delhi for a possible meeting with Sharad Pawar, the ICC vice-president and former BCCI president who still has the final word in Indian cricket affairs. “We have no knowledge of any such visit,” a BCCI official said. Sources in Pawar’s office, however, have confirmed that the veteran politician who is a major player in the ongoing Indian election process, will be in New Delhi early next week. “If anybody can help the PCB wriggle out of this mess, it’s Pawar who will become the ICC president next year and continue through the World Cup,” the Indian official said.The Indian board is understood to be livid at the PCB’s aggressive posture on the World Cup. “There has always been a political disconnect between the two countries, yet the two cricket boards have enjoyed a wonderful relationship and worked closely together,” a senior BCCI official said. “But all that has changed now, and we are very disappointed with the PCB’s approach on the World Cup issue.”At some point soon, something will also have to be done to repair a faltering relationship between the ICC and Pakistan. The two options, it is believed, have always been available to Pakistan and by acting as it has, it has possibly strained relationships with other members as well. The ICC’s offer of support earlier this year to work out a viable way forward has not been taken up. “The ICC offered to form a task team to assist Pakistan and ensure the game remains on its feet in the country in these difficult times,” the spokesperson said. “That offer was made at the ICC Board meeting in Perth in January/February but, to date, there has been no response from the PCB. The task team could assist in some or all of these matters.”

Douglas Luiz is set to miss Aston Villa’s meeting with Wolves on Saturday, according to Birmingham Live.

As to be expected, a number of Villa supporters have been reacting to the news on social media.

Luiz was a late inclusion in Tite’s squad during the international break, with the Villa midfielder coming in to replace Real Madrid’s Casemiro, who had a tooth infection.

The 23-year-old hasn’t featured against Venezuela or Colombia and it is uncertain whether he will play against Uruguay on Thursday night (Friday morning UK time).

Birmingham Live claimed that he’s now set to miss the meeting at Villa Park on Saturday as he’ll be flying into the Midlands via private jet less than 24 hours before kick-off. Should that be the case, it will be the first time Dean Smith will be without Luiz in the Premier League since the opening weekend defeat to Watford.

A reestreia de Hernanes pelo São Paulo, em termos de resultado, superou a de todos os últimos grandes nomes da história recente do clube. Desde 2010, o Tricolor teve uma leva de retornos de jogadores que tinham identificação com a torcida, mas nenhuma chegou ao patamar da do Profeta, que marcou um gol e teve ótima atuação na vitória histórica de 4 a 3 sobre o Botafogo no último sábado. E olha que voltaram Lugano, Kaká, Luis Fabiano…

Em termos de atuação individual, a de Kaká foi a quem mais se aproxima. Em 2014, o meia melhor do mundo em 2007 retornou e marcou um gol. Mostrou estrela. No entanto, o Tricolor perdeu para o Goiás por 2 a 1 no Serra Dourada, em partida válida pelo Campeonato Brasileiro. O camisa 8 acabou sendo peça-chave para a campanha do vice-campeonato.

Até Hernanes, Kaká tinha sido o único a marcar dos nomes que voltaram nesta década. Ricardo Oliveira, em 2010, e Luis Fabiano, em 2011, não só passaram em branco como perderam os jogos. Já Cicinho, em 2010, e Lugano, ano passado, venceram, mas com atuações discretas, sem marcar.

A reestreia de Hernanes foi tão boa que surpreendeu até o próprio jogador. Após a partida, ele deu a tônica da emoção por ter tido atuação tão importante em um dia épico. O triunfo no Engenhão tirou o Tricolor da zona do rebaixamento.

The Lowdown: Cleary catching the eye

The Baggies have a hugely talented young player in their ranks, with Cleary impressing for the under-23s so far this season.

The 17-year-old has scored twice in four Premier League 2 appearances in 2021/22, as well as having an overall record of 16 goals in 20 games for the under-18s.

Cleary is still waiting to make his first team bow, but it may not be too far away if he continues to perform at his current level.

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Hatfield of The Express & Star discussed the teenager’s future at The Hawthorns, admitting that he is regarded highly by Albion but other clubs are watching him closely. The journalist said:

“By the sounds coming out of the club, they rate him highly. He looks like a player who knows where the back of the net is at youth level.

“We’ll see how he develops, of course, because plenty of youngsters shine at that level, and maybe don’t kick on to the first-team setup and manage to do that.

“But we’ll see what happens with him. It can only be a good sign that clubs are interested and are being linked with him.”

The Verdict: Keep him at Albion

Cleary looks a hugely gifted talent with a bright future ahead of him, so it is vital that West Brom tie him down for as long as possible.

He is yet to sign a professional contract with the Baggies and it is important that that changes soon, ensuring that he has a large buyout clause in the process.

It may be tough for them to keep hold of Cleary forever, but for the time being, he should be viewed as a possible future regular at The Hawthorns.

Leeds United are plotting a January bid for Club Brugge winger Noa Lang but are set to face competition from Arsenal for his signature.

What’s the story?

Reports in recent months had suggested that the 22-year-old was a major target for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, with The Athletic’s Phil Hay revealing that the Whites really like him as a player.

Once the Premier League season had started, it was claimed by Football Insider that Leeds remain interested in Lang and have had scouts keeping tabs on his performances over the course of this campaign ahead of a potential move.

Dutch publication Voetbal24 have now suggested (via Sport Witness) that the likes of Leeds, Arsenal and AC Milan want to sign Lang, with a very good chance an offer will come in during the January transfer window.

Dribbles more than Raphinha

After a stellar 2020/21 season with Brugge – the 22-year-old netted an impressive 17 times across all competitions – it’s no surprise that Leeds are keen on finally getting their man in January.

Dubbed a “phenomenon” by Belgian sports journalist Peter Vandenbempt, Lang made history when he became the first player in 60 years to mark his debut with a hat-trick for Ajax, prompting Erik ten Hag to wax lyrical about him.

The Amsterdam club’s manager said: “He showed (his talent) today and I am very happy with that. Noa shows (his ability) it during training and during the reserve matches. And today he has also clearly shown it at the highest level too.”

Leeds fans have already seen the impact that an exciting new winger can have on the club after Raphinha’s signing last year, but when you compare the Brazilian’s stats to Lang’s this season, it’s the latter who fares better.

The Brugge star has seven goal contributions compared to Raphinha’s two, while he has also averaged three times as many dribbles as the Leeds man – a real indication of the directness with which he plays and the end product he already seems to have.

Leeds fans will surely be excited at potentially signing him in January.
