Paolo Guerrero está fora dos holofotes desde que foi punido por seis meses por doping. No entanto, o centroavante peruano, que teve o contrato com o Flamengo suspenso, mantém contato com o clube. Inclusive conversou com Carpegiani, revelou o atacante peruano em entrevista à “ESPN” da Argentina.

Guerrero também comentou a expectativa para voltar aos jogos do Flamengo e do Peru, além da insatisfação com o caso. Os advogados do atacante recorrem à Corte Arbitral do Esporte (CAS) para anular a pena de seis meses.

-Conversei um dia com o Carpegiani. Eu tive uma reunião no clube com os responsáveis e pude conhecê-lo. Conversamos muito pouco, mas disse que estava me esperando – afirmou o atacante de 34 anos da seleção peruana.

O período afastado de sua profissão e a indefinição sobre o caso tem tirado o seu sono, revelou Paolo Guerrero, que encontra na família o apoio e conforto.

– Chego a perder o sono, mas tento me manter forte mentalmente e não me deprimir. E me concentrar nos meus treinamentos, que me ajudam a esquecer esse momento pelo que estou passando. Alguns dias me abato,mas graças a Deus tenho os meus pais comigo. São minha fortaleza – comentou o camisa 9.

Suspenso até o dia 3 de maio por doping, Guerrero poderá voltar a utilizar as instalações do Flamengo – o CT Ninho do Urubu – a partir do dia 20 de março. Desde dezembro, quando a Fifa anunciou a punição ao camisa 9, o mesmo mantém a forma física fora do clube, com o acompanhamento de profissionais.

O peruano está nos planos do Rubro-Negro para o primeiro semestre, tanto que o inscreveu na Copa Libetadores. A reativação do contrato já é avaliada.

Contratado em 2015, após destacar-se pelo Corinthians, Paolo Guerrero soma 108 partidas pelo Rubro-Negro, com 51 vitórias, 30 empates e 27 derrotas. São 42 gols do peruano, campeão carioca em 2017 pelo Fla.

Seu contrato com o clube da Gávea, suspenso desde a condenação, é válido até 10 de agosto de 2018.

Eu sabia que o Flamengo iria me inscrever (na Libertadores), tenho contrato até agosto. Estou tranquilo, mas espero resolver isso o mais rápido possível e poder fazer o que eu mais amo.

2. Saída de Rueda, cheada de Carpegiani

Foi difícil a saída do professor Rueda, tínhamos boa comunicação e uma grande amizade. Nos escrevíamos mensagens depois de cada partida quando eu não podia jogar. Nos parabenizávamos pelos bons resultados. Para mim, foi um balde de água fria. Mas desejo tudo de melhor para ele na seleção chilena.

3. Planos para o futuro

Se um dia eu tiver a oportunidade de jogar aqui na Argentina, venho. Se surgir a oportunidade de jogar na Europa, vou para a Europa. Mas, por enquanto, vivo o presente. Sou jogador do Flamengo, tenho contrato e estou muito feliz.

4. Expectativa para o Mundial da Rússia

Tenho pensado pouco. Primeiro, estou focado em mim, preciso me preparar bem para começar a jogar. Não quero pensar que estou me preparando para jogar o Mundial. Quero pensar que o Paolo precisa se preparar muito bem para que, quando voltar a jogar, seja pelo clube, seja pela seleção, vá bem. Se penso em Copa, vou começar a me desesperar e não vou chegar bem.

O Nova Iguaçu já tem comandante definido para a disputa da Série D do Campeonato Brasileiro: será Marcus Alexandre, de 45 anos, campeão carioca sub-20 no ano passado pelo Vasco da Gama. Formado pela UFRJ e mestrando em Ciência do Exercício na mesma instituição, ele foi apresentado nesta sexta-feira ao lado do preparador físico Allan Ribeiro.

Marcus Alexandre já teve duas passagens no Nova Iguaçu: em 2009, quando foi auxiliar-técnico de Toninho Barroso no profissional, e em 2012, como técnico do sub-17. Agora, terá a grande oportunidade na carreira: comandar o Orgulho da Baixada no Campeonato Brasileiro da Série D, no qual o clube está ao lado de Caxias, Inter de Lages e Mirassol no Grupo A15.

– Agradeço muito pela oportunidade que o Nova Iguaçu está me dando, abrindo as portas para que eu possa retornar ao profissional. O projeto do Nova Iguaçu é grandioso e importante e acho que encaixa muito bem com esse momento da minha carreira, em que eu quero crescer. Essa parceria vai dar certo, vamos crescer juntos. Existe a confiança de ambas as partes – afirmou Marcus Alexandre.

O novo técnico do Nova Iguaçu trabalhou por quase 20 anos nas categorias de base do Vasco da Gama, participando da formação de grandes nomes como Philippe Coutinho, Alex Teixeira, Alan Kardec e mais recentemente Paulinho e Luan. A experiência no trato com a garotada casa com o DNA formador do Nova Iguaçu, que contará com um grupo mais jovem no torneio nacional.

– O Nova Iguaçu é um dos poucos clubes do país que tem o selo de formação no nível mais alto, esse é o DNA do Nova Iguaçu. A ideia é manter essa essência, de ter a base como primordial e sendo aproveitada com uma maior intensidade. A torcida pode esperar uma equipe aguerrida em campo, que vai brigar pelo espaço para conquistar tudo aquilo que ela deseja – disse Marcus, que já andou estudando os adversários:

– Assisti esta semana a Caxias x Avenida e temos alguns jogos do Inter de Lajes e do Mirassol também… Estamos buscando mais material. Assim que surgiu a possibilidade desse acerto acontecer, procuramos monitorar todos os nossos adversários. São rivais tradicionais, mas dentro de campo todos têm chances de classificar. Acredito muito no trabalho aqui do Nova Iguaçu.

A reapresentação do elenco está sendo marcada para o próximo dia 2 de abril, no Centro de Treinamento do Nova Iguaçu. O Orgulho da Baixada terá três semanas de preparação até a estreia na Série D, diante do Mirassol, no interior de São Paulo, no dia 21 ou 22 de abril.

Antonio Conte has been dealt a huge injury blow concerning Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Oliver Skipp.

In a recent statement posted on the Tottenham Hotspur website, the club confirmed that the 21-year-old – who has not featured for Spurs since the 2-0 Premier League defeat to Chelsea in January – has now been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

The club continued to state that the England U21 international underwent surgery in America on Tuesday morning in order to repair his pubis injury, and is now expected to return to first-team training in pre-season.

The statement read: “We can confirm that Oliver Skipp has undergone surgery in America this morning (Tuesday 26 April) to repair a pubis injury and will be out for the remainder of the season.

“The academy graduate, 21, will now undergo a period of recovery and is expected to return to training for the pre-season period.”

Conte will be fuming

With Conte stating back in January that Skipp would only be sidelined for a fortnight as a result of his injury – before the 52-year-old went on to put pressure on the Tottenham medical team to have the midfielder ready to return to action in seven to ten days – the news that the 21-year-old will now be unavailable for selection until 2022/23 is sure to have left the Italian fuming.

Indeed, it is evident just how highly Conte rates the Spurs academy graduate, with the former Inter Milan manager stating of the youngster earlier this season:

“This player is very young. He has really a lot of space for improvement. He played with great intensity, great passion, with heart, with soul. I think it was important because, for me, he doesn’t care if he’s only 21 years old, who deserves to play.

“I think that the present and the future depends on him. If he wants to become a top midfielder, he could become a top midfielder. He has this will, this desire to become an important player for Tottenham and for the present and for the future.”

However, not only is the Spurs manager a huge fan of the England youth international, it is clear that the Italian also trusts Skipp greatly, with Conte playing the £18m-rated talent in all but one of the 14 fixtures in which he was available for selection – following the 52-year-old’s arrival in north London last November.

As such, the loss of the £50k-per-week sensation will certainly come as a huge blow to Conte and his Tottenham side, who will now be forced to chase fourth-placed Arsenal down in the league without the services of one of their brightest prospects.

Liverpool potentially have another Michael Owen within their ranks.

17-year-old Oakley Cannonier has been on fire for Liverpool’s U18 side this season, having surpassed the 40-goal mark this campaign.

Cannonier has been firing all season which has earned him mass plaudits from U18’s manager Marc Bridge-Wilkinson as he told The Athletic:

“Oakley is really bright. He’s a good little footballer. His instincts for the game are very natural. It’s something we have to make sure he retains.”

Cannonier previously earned acclaim for his alertness as a ball-boy – giving Trent Alexander-Arnold the ball for the right-back’s quickly-taken corner which created the winner for Divock Origi in the Reds’ sensational Champions League comeback against Barcelona.

It was this act that bagged him an invitation to train with the Liverpool first-team, with Klopp telling the youngster: “I just need to thank you for what you did!”

Cannonier, who trained with the first team solely on merit, impressed Klopp during those sessions, with the German keeping tabs on his development with the U18’s ever since.

His goalscoring touch has earned him comparisons to Roberto Firmino, with many believing he is the future of Liverpool’s front line.

Whilst the latter is highly likely if he can keep up this form, his presence as a feared out-and-out forward is more reminiscent of Michael Owen, who also enjoyed a rise to fame via the Liverpool youth system.

Cannonier bagged his 39th and 40th goals of the season during Liverpool U18’s 5-1 victory over Wolves, which will have felt sweet for the lifelong Liverpool fan who told The Athletic: “I just always wanted to play for Liverpool. It was a no-brainer.”

The young Englishman’s rise to success is gaining traction and with the 17-year-old tipped to be moving up to the Liverpool U23s next season, we could well see the new Michael Owen donning the Liverpool shirt come next season.

With both teams in contention for the title, Durham recovered from 54 for 5 to reach 213 and Yorkshire reached the close on 125 for 7.Tim Bresnan left afterwards to link up briefly with the England squad in London, but he was outshone by Ajmal Shahzad, who took a career-best 5for 51. Bresnan took only one wicket but was sent in to bat at number three and made 25 before heading for Newcastle Airport. He will return to Durham on Wednesday if not required for the Oval Test and during his absence will be replaced by Oliver Hannon-Dalby.Yorkshire put Durham in and the ball nipped around under heavy morning cloud, but Shahzad had to settle for coming on as first change. He turned a short ball from Richard Pyrah to fine leg for his 14th four to reach his hundred off 156 balls and straight drove the next for another four to bring up the 200 and earn a batting point.

What’s the talk?

According to the Daily Mail, the Magpies are now interested in a deal to sign the Belgian winger as they have added him to their list of potential targets.

The report claims that the Toon are eyeing a move for the £15.3m-rated gem as they look to bolster their squad heading into the 2022/23 campaign. He is out of contract in the summer of 2023 and it remains to be seen whether or not Brighton will be able to pin him down to a new deal.

Howe will love it

Eddie Howe will surely love this prospective swoop from the Tyneside club, as Trossard is a proven Premier League performer who can come in and add to the Magpies’ options out wide.

Toon legend Alan Shearer once dubbed him “outstanding” and it is easy to see why when you look at the 27-year-old’s statistics in the top flight. He has averaged a SofaScore rating of 7.02 this term, after a score of 7.03 last season, and has produced 10 goals and six assists since the start of 2020/21.

This shows that Trossard is delivering consistently impressive displays whilst chipping in with goals and assists from out wide. He has proven that he can perform in the Premier League, as shown by these statistics, and that is why Howe would surely love to have him at St James’ Park.

Instead of bringing in a player without experience in the English top flight, whether they come from the lower leagues or abroad, Newcastle can sign a player that they know can deliver. Whilst it is impossible to guarantee that he will be a good player for the Toon, the statistics suggest that he has a very high chance of being a strong addition to the squad.

It could also be a fantastic move by the club from a financial point of view. If Brighton are unable to tie down Trossard to a new deal, PIF could strike a bargain for the Belgian as they could tempt the Seagulls into selling for a cut-price fee.

Albion will lose him for nothing next year if he does not put pen to paper on an extension, and the Magpies can use that as leverage to secure a great piece of business.

It is now down to PIF to make sure that they are able to convince Brighton to part ways with the Belgian ahead of the 2022/23 campaign, as Howe will be buzzing if he is able to work with the 27-year-old next term.
