Antonio Conte has been dealt a huge injury blow concerning Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Oliver Skipp.

What’s the latest?

In a recent statement posted on the Tottenham Hotspur website, the club confirmed that the 21-year-old – who has not featured for Spurs since the 2-0 Premier League defeat to Chelsea in January – has now been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

The club continued to state that the England U21 international underwent surgery in America on Tuesday morning in order to repair his pubis injury, and is now expected to return to first-team training in pre-season.

The statement read: “We can confirm that Oliver Skipp has undergone surgery in America this morning (Tuesday 26 April) to repair a pubis injury and will be out for the remainder of the season.

“The academy graduate, 21, will now undergo a period of recovery and is expected to return to training for the pre-season period.”

Conte will be fuming

With Conte stating back in January that Skipp would only be sidelined for a fortnight as a result of his injury – before the 52-year-old went on to put pressure on the Tottenham medical team to have the midfielder ready to return to action in seven to ten days – the news that the 21-year-old will now be unavailable for selection until 2022/23 is sure to have left the Italian fuming.

Indeed, it is evident just how highly Conte rates the Spurs academy graduate, with the former Inter Milan manager stating of the youngster earlier this season:

“This player is very young. He has really a lot of space for improvement. He played with great intensity, great passion, with heart, with soul. I think it was important because, for me, he doesn’t care if he’s only 21 years old, who deserves to play.

“I think that the present and the future depends on him. If he wants to become a top midfielder, he could become a top midfielder. He has this will, this desire to become an important player for Tottenham and for the present and for the future.”

However, not only is the Spurs manager a huge fan of the England youth international, it is clear that the Italian also trusts Skipp greatly, with Conte playing the £18m-rated talent in all but one of the 14 fixtures in which he was available for selection – following the 52-year-old’s arrival in north London last November.

As such, the loss of the £50k-per-week sensation will certainly come as a huge blow to Conte and his Tottenham side, who will now be forced to chase fourth-placed Arsenal down in the league without the services of one of their brightest prospects.

– Chego a perder o sono, mas tento me manter forte mentalmente e não me deprimir. E me concentrar nos meus treinamentos, que me ajudam a esquecer esse momento pelo que estou passando. Alguns dias me abato,mas graças a Deus tenho os meus pais comigo. São minha fortaleza – comentou o camisa 9.

Suspenso até o dia 3 de maio por doping, Guerrero poderá voltar a utilizar as instalações do Flamengo – o CT Ninho do Urubu – a partir do dia 20 de março. Desde dezembro, quando a Fifa anunciou a punição ao camisa 9, o mesmo mantém a forma física fora do clube, com o acompanhamento de profissionais.

O peruano está nos planos do Rubro-Negro para o primeiro semestre, tanto que o inscreveu na Copa Libetadores. A reativação do contrato já é avaliada.

Seu contrato com o clube da Gávea, suspenso desde a condenação, é válido até 10 de agosto de 2018.

Foi difícil a saída do professor Rueda, tínhamos boa comunicação e uma grande amizade. Nos escrevíamos mensagens depois de cada partida quando eu não podia jogar. Nos parabenizávamos pelos bons resultados. Para mim, foi um balde de água fria. Mas desejo tudo de melhor para ele na seleção chilena.

3. Planos para o futuro

Se um dia eu tiver a oportunidade de jogar aqui na Argentina, venho. Se surgir a oportunidade de jogar na Europa, vou para a Europa. Mas, por enquanto, vivo o presente. Sou jogador do Flamengo, tenho contrato e estou muito feliz.

4. Expectativa para o Mundial da Rússia

Tenho pensado pouco. Primeiro, estou focado em mim, preciso me preparar bem para começar a jogar. Não quero pensar que estou me preparando para jogar o Mundial. Quero pensar que o Paolo precisa se preparar muito bem para que, quando voltar a jogar, seja pelo clube, seja pela seleção, vá bem. Se penso em Copa, vou começar a me desesperar e não vou chegar bem.

It’s been an amazing journey,” said Vettori, who in addition to his New Zealand appearances, also turned out for the World XI, against Australia in 2005. “For anyone to have such longevity is a great achievement. We expected the criticism, and it was all fair. When you lose 4-0, no matter to whom, you should expect a lot of criticism. Hopefully, it can be a catalyst for us in improving in all facets of our game.”Vettori is the only member in this squad who has played Tests in India and he said that though he will have a big role to play, he anticipates a major effort from the fast bowlers. “I suppose the responsibility primarily lies with me as the most experienced bowler over here, but I know, looking at the statistics, that seam bowlers can do a pretty good job particularly if you can get the ball reversing. What’s the talk?

According to the Daily Mail, the Magpies are now interested in a deal to sign the Belgian winger as they have added him to their list of potential targets.

The report claims that the Toon are eyeing a move for the £15.3m-rated gem as they look to bolster their squad heading into the 2022/23 campaign. He is out of contract in the summer of 2023 and it remains to be seen whether or not Brighton will be able to pin him down to a new deal.

Howe will love it

Eddie Howe will surely love this prospective swoop from the Tyneside club, as Trossard is a proven Premier League performer who can come in and add to the Magpies’ options out wide.

Toon legend Alan Shearer once dubbed him “outstanding” and it is easy to see why when you look at the 27-year-old’s statistics in the top flight. He has averaged a SofaScore rating of 7.02 this term, after a score of 7.03 last season, and has produced 10 goals and six assists since the start of 2020/21.

This shows that Trossard is delivering consistently impressive displays whilst chipping in with goals and assists from out wide. He has proven that he can perform in the Premier League, as shown by these statistics, and that is why Howe would surely love to have him at St James’ Park.

Instead of bringing in a player without experience in the English top flight, whether they come from the lower leagues or abroad, Newcastle can sign a player that they know can deliver. Whilst it is impossible to guarantee that he will be a good player for the Toon, the statistics suggest that he has a very high chance of being a strong addition to the squad.

It could also be a fantastic move by the club from a financial point of view. If Brighton are unable to tie down Trossard to a new deal, PIF could strike a bargain for the Belgian as they could tempt the Seagulls into selling for a cut-price fee.

Albion will lose him for nothing next year if he does not put pen to paper on an extension, and the Magpies can use that as leverage to secure a great piece of business.

It is now down to PIF to make sure that they are able to convince Brighton to part ways with the Belgian ahead of the 2022/23 campaign, as Howe will be buzzing if he is able to work with the 27-year-old next term.

The ICC has launched an investigation into the third one-day international between England and Pakistan at The Oval after it received information from a newspaper before the game began alleging that bookies were aware of certain scoring patterns that occurred during the match.The ICC stated that “a full investigation is warranted”, confirming that the information it received in advance about certain scoring patterns during the game appeared to be correct. The information was passed on to the ICC by , which said it was based on details of calls between a person based in Dubai and a bookie in Delhi.The ICC, however, clarified that it was premature to suggest anything untoward had occurred during Pakistan’s 23-run victory on Friday.”A source informed newspaper that a certain scoring pattern would emerge during certain stages of the match and, broadly speaking, that information appeared to be correct,” Haroon Lorgat, the ICC chief executive, said.”We therefore feel it is incumbent upon us to launch a full enquiry into this particular game, although it is worth pointing out at this stage that we are not stating as fact that anything untoward has occurred. Only in the fullness of the investigation can that be established.”The Pakistan board was unwilling to comment until further details were available, though PCB chairman Ijaz Butt arrived in Dubai on Saturday from Delhi. It isn’t clear whether the chairman was scheduled to fly back to Pakistan via Dubai or whether the latest allegations prompted the trip to the headquarters of the game’s governing body.
