واختتم ريال مدريد تدريباته قبل مباراة برشلونة ولكن اليوم السبت، شارك تيبو كورتوا في التدريبات مرة أخرى بعدما أصيب في نهاية شهر مارس الماضي بإصابة عضلية.

كان كورتوا من المفترض أن يشارك في المباريات بعد التوقف الدولي الماضي، لكن بعد شفائه من إصابته بقطع في الرباط الصليبي انتكس بإصابة جديدة ولكنها كانت بسيطة.

ولم يشارك الظهير الأيسر، فيرلاند ميندي، في التدريبات بسبب إصابة عضلية أخرى، ولم يتم استبعاده من خطط أنشيلوتي ولكن بما أنه لم يتدرب اليوم فمن الصعب مشاركته أمام برشلونة.

Of those stars of the past, few compare to Mousa Dembele, who held down the engine room with relentless power and endless grace for seven fine years. However, there is one star on the market who does boast frightening similarities both in physical profile and play style.

Sofyan Amrabat has been touted with an exit from Fiorentina ever since his exceptional World Cup, and it is Spurs who too are reportedly interested in making the Moroccan general the heir to their Belgian maestro.

He is expected to cost around €40m (£34m), per transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

How good is Sofyan Amrabat?

Whilst those performances on the world stage still stand as the apex of his career thus far, he has impressed for his club too across four years in Italy.

The 26-year-old managed a 6.86 average rating in Serie A last season, buoyed by his 90% pass accuracy, 75% dribble success and 1.3 tackles per game, via Sofascore.

When comparing that to Dembele's best year in north London, arguably throughout the 2015/16 campaign, it is clear that the similarities begin to shine through.

After all, they are both a couple of tough-tackling 6 foot 1 midfield stars, with the class to retain possession but also turn defence into attack in an instant.

During that Premier League term, the 36-year-old ace recorded a 7.41 average rating, with just four goal contributions, a 90% pass accuracy, a 92% dribble success rate, one key pass and 3.6 tackles per game, via Sofascore.

It was such form that led Pochettino to compare his key man to some of the greats he had met, claiming:

"I always say to him, ‘Mousa, when I write my book, you will be one of my genius players that I have been lucky enough to meet.

"One was Maradona; also Ronaldinho, Okocha and Iván de la Peña – he was a genius, too – and then Mousa. We always tell Mousa that if we had taken him at 18 or 19, he would have become one of the best players in the world."

Perhaps Postecoglou could now be credited with engineering that rise to the apex of world football with Amrabat, especially given that he has already received widespread praise of his own for that recent World Cup run. Journalist Carlo Garganese even noted:

"Amrabat the best centre midfielder in the tournament. MONSTER."

He too has that genius within him which is just waiting to be unleashed, with only flashes of it having been shown thus far in his career despite his ranking within the top 8% for progressive passes per 90 when compared to other midfielders across Europe.

Perhaps a switch to north London could see him truly look to Dembele as the benchmark, emulating the stylish flair that made him much more than your average defensive midfielder.

في حين كان يعاني عمر جابر من إصابة بشد في العضلة الضامة مما تسبب في غيابه عن اللقاء السابق، قبل أن ينتظم في مران اليوم.

‎وينهي أحمد فتوح الظهير الأيسر للزمالك المرحلة الأخيرة من البرنامج التأهيلي الذي يخضع له، في ظل الإصابة التي يعاني منها بشد في العضلة الخلفية.

Celtic midfielder Ismaila Soro could reportedly leave Parkhead for free, but there is interest from Beitar Jerusalem and Hapoel Be'er Sheva.

What’s the latest Celtic transfer news?

The Hoops have been busy so far this summer, with Brendan Rodgers returning as manager after Ange Postecoglou left for Tottenham.

Since then, a number of new players have arrived ahead of the 2023/24 season, the first of which was midfielder Odin Thiago Holm from Valerenga. Winger Marco Tilio then signed from Melbourne City, and he was followed by Polish defender Maik Nawrocki from Legia Warszawa.

Tomoki Iwata’s loan move has become permanent in Glasgow, and the club have also managed to sign winger Hyun-jun Yang from Gangwon FC and defensive midfielder Hyeok-kyu Kwon from Busan IPark.

In total, Celtic have spent just under €15m, but they have brought in around double after star winger Jota completed a big-money move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Itiihad. Goalkeeper Conor Hazard has also left on a permanent basis for Championship side Plymouth Argyle, and by the looks of things, Soro could also be on the way out over the coming days.

According to The Scottish Sun, Soro looks set to return to Israeli football this week after Beitar Jerusalem and Hapoel Be'er Sheva both made approaches to sign the player.

The report even claims that ‘Celtic are weighing up whether to rip up his contract and allow him to leave for nothing’, as he has no future in Scotland under Rodgers. The Hoops could still look to recoup a modest fee, but with around 43 weeks remaining on his £8,100-a-week contract, Celtic could seemingly rip up his remaining £350,000 deal.

Ismaila Soro’s Celtic career…

Soro made the move to Celtic Park from Israeli side Bnei Yehuda back in 2020 in a deal worth €2.3m. Neil Lennon, manager at the time, said that Soro "stood out" in the Israeli top flight, however, things haven’t gone to plan for the player in Glasgow.

After joining, Soro did feature heavily in the remainder of the 2020/21 season, turning out on 23 occasions in all competitions. Since then, though, he has only managed a further 20 appearances, taking his overall tally to 43.

Lennon’s departure and Postecoglou’s arrival saw him fall out of favour, and he spent last season on loan with Portuguese side FC Arouca. Soro got plenty of game time in the Portuguese top flight, turning out on 30 occasions in total, but it does look as if a permanent transfer away would be best for all involved.

Celtic have eight alternative central midfield options to choose from without Soro, including new signings Kwon and Holm, whereas Iwata’s loan spell has become a permanent deal. Regulars Reo Hatate, Matt O’Riley and captain Callum McGregor are also expected to feature heavily under Rodgers, so there doesn’t appear to be room for Soro.

It will be interesting to see if Celtic let him go for free or look to bring in a low transfer fee, but by the looks of things, Soro’s days at Parkhead appear to be numbered.

A magnificent display of fast bowling by burly South African Hardus Viljoen inspired Derbyshire to only their second championship victory of the season against Sussex at Hove.Viloen took the first eight wickets to have a chance of all-10 before Harry Podmore nipped in for the last two to complete Derbyshire’s win and end Sussex’s promotion hopes in the processViljoen, 28, followed up his first innings return of seven for 80 to take 8 for 90 to finish with career best match figures of 15 for 170 as Sussex, bowled out for 344, were beaten by 45 runs. It was the fifth best match return by a Derbyshire bowler.This was the fifth time Viljoen had taken ten or more wickets in an match – but it’s the first time he has achieved it for Derbyshire, who must regret that he has been injured for most of the season.At the start of the day it looked as though Derbyshire had been stingy with their declaration. By declaring their innings closed at their overnight score of 322 for 8 they set Sussex a formidable 390 for victory.But Sussex had to go for the win to keep their promotion hopes alive. And Derbyshire knew that that would give them their best chance of victory.Viljoen, who is a genuine fast bowler, started his demolition job in his second over of the day, when he had Angus Robson caught at third slip. The fielder, Matt Critchley, took the ball with his hands high above his head.But by lunchtime Sussex had put themselves in with a chance of pulling off a stunning victory. They were 110 for 1, and needed another 280.Luke Wells and Stiaan van Zyl had set the platform for an unlikely win by the home side, van Zyl bringing up the 100 partnership just before lunch when he straight drove Luis Reece for four.After the break, Wells hit Viljoen for three successive fours but was then lbw looking for a fourth. And when Chris Nash was caught in the slips for just nine in Viljoen’s next over Sussex were 147 for 3 and Derbyshire were back in the match.But the match turned towards Sussex once again as even Viljoen struggled against van Zyl and the more pugnacious Luke Wright as the pair put on 120 for the fourth wicket. At tea, when Sussex were 236 for 3, needing another 154 from 36 overs, they were clear favourites to win the match.But then Viljoen turned the game towards Derbyshire once again. He had van Zyl caught at third man for 85 and then dismissed the Sussex captain Ben Brown, caught at slip. Then, when he plucked out Wright’s middle stump for 80 with a yorker Sussex were struggling at 276 for 6.Ollie Robinson and Jofra Archer continued to encourage the Sussex supporters with a seventh wicket stand of 31. But then Viljoen took out Robinson’s off stump for 15 before having Archer caught at slip for 25.Podmore finished the job for Derbyshire with the final two wickets, thanks to fine catches by Hamidullah Qadri and Ben Slater. But Viljoen was the great hero of the day.

Manchester United have agreed a £30m fee to sell defender Harry Maguire, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Is Harry Maguire leaving Man United?

The Red Devils and Erik ten Hag have been productive in the transfer market so far this summer, making three big-money signings.

Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund have all put pen to paper at Old Trafford, joining from Chelsea, Inter Milan and Atalanta respectively. There could well be more to come before the September 1 deadline, however, further arrivals could depend on player sales.

Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat and Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo are among the club’s next targets, however, reports have stated that they need to sell first. Midfielders Donny van de Beek and Fred could be among those to leave, whereas Maguire has also been heavily linked with an exit.

West Ham have been showing a real interest in the defender and had a £20m offer turned down towards the end of July, but it looks as if a fee has now been agreed.

According to Football Insider in the last 24 hours, the Red Devils and the Hammers were close to agreeing a fee worth almost £40m for the 30-year-old.

The report claims that talks have ‘majorly moved forward’ and that West Ham are also in talks to sign Scott McTominay, although a move for Maguire is further forward.

Since then, it has been reported by Romano that a £30m agreement in principle has been reached between the two clubs for Maguire.

"West Ham have reached an agreement in principle with Manchester United for Harry Maguire on £30m fee. The verbal agreement is subject to final, key points on deal structure still under discussion but fee now agreed, as per Sky. Personal terms, to be discussed soon."

How good is Harry Maguire?

Maguire may have had his critics in recent years, however, he has also received praise. In total, the centre-back has made 175 appearances for the Red Devils after joining in 2019, however, just 16 of those came in the top flight during Ten Hag’s first season in charge.

Ten Hag did hail the centre-back against Everton back in April, though, saying:

"Maguire was dominating, dictating. This is a different Harry to what I've seen in the first weeks and months. He's taking so much initiative, dominating his opponent, stepping in, bringing passes. So a really great performance."

Meanwhile, John Stones also praised the player last season at the World Cup in Qatar, saying:

"Right from the first game, it was the best response to what he's been going through. All three games he's played he's been terrific. It's about us finding that partnership again, whoever we play alongside, and now it's time for us to keep building.”

As per FBref, the centre-back has actually impressed statistically over the past 12 months. He ranks in the top 2% for dribblers tackled, top 9% for aerial duels won and has lost just 0.09 challenges per 90. On the ball, Maguire has also been a relatively solid performer, ranking in the 82nd percentile for passes attempted and 79th percentile for passes completed.

However, with Ten Hag leaning towards Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez as his first-choice pairing and taking the captaincy away from Maguire this summer, a move away could be best for all parties, and recouping around £40m could be seen as a shrewd piece of business.
