Tottenham Hotspur are back in Premier League action as they look to get a foothold back on the race for the top four.

On Monday night, a stunning equaliser from Everton defender Michael Keane meant the Lilywhites were condemned to fifth place, heading into this afternoon's encounter with Brighton and Hove Albion.

The north Londoners have home comforts on their side but caretaker manager Cristian Stellini is dealing with a whole host of injury concerns, so what sort of side could we see at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?

How will Spurs line up against Brighton?

Between the sticks, club captain Hugo Lloris is set to resume no.1 duties after making a successful comeback from injury at Goodison Park earlier in the week. Perhaps it's unfair on Fraser Forster, who deputised amicably, but the Frenchman is the first choice.

Without stars such as Ben Davies, Ryan Sessegnon and Emerson Royal due to injury, the wing-backs select themselves, meaning Pedro Porro and Ivan Perisic keep their place on either flank, though there could be a change to the back three, with second-half substitute Davinson Sanchez a candidate to replace Clement Lenglet in the starting XI.

The £21.5m-rated Colombian would then join Eric Dier and Cristian Romero in the backline.

In midfield, there are more injuries, with Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma long-term absentees. Oliver Skipp and Pape Matar Sarr are battling for that spot alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, though it's likely that the homegrown talent gets the nod once again.

Spurs have looked fruitless in attack in recent outings and whilst Harry Kane will still be the first name on the teamsheet, he could be joined by January arrival Arnaut Danjuma in what would be a very rare start. It would be the second and final alteration to Stellini's 11.

Heung-min Son has struggled for form, so the introduction of the £28m-rated Villarreal loanee – who is a "nightmare for defenders" according to pundit Kevin Phillips – could give a new lift to their floundering frontline, also joining Dejan Kulusevski as Lucas Moura begins a three-game suspension after his red card on Monday night.

Alex McLeish’s spell as manager of Glasgow Rangers must go down in the history books as one of the finest in the previous 50 years, especially considering the vast financial constraints he had to work with.

He won seven major honours during his four and a half seasons at the helm, including a marvellous treble in 2002/03 and claiming an unlikely title in 2004/05, stunning Celtic who were defeated by Motherwell on the final day.

The former Aberdeen defender had to resort to signing players either on loan or snapping them up for free with the odd signing such as Thomas Buffel or Barry Ferguson.

The summer of 2004 was arguably his most difficult in charge of the club, having lost the league title by a 17-point margin and the onus was on the Ibrox side to improve massively to prevent Celtic from dominating Scottish football.

McLeish signed Dado Prso on a free transfer while he also added French centre-back Jean-Alain Boumsong to his ranks after he signed a pre-contract agreement with the Glasgow giants back in December 2003, and it proved to be one of his finest signings as manager.

Having made 174 appearances for Auxerre and winning seven caps for France before arriving at the club in 2004, his move was certainly deemed a major coup, and he was looked upon as a player who could become the mainstay at the heart of the defence for a few years.

He eventually made just 59 appearances for the Magpies and was even listed as the 17th worst player to ever play in the Premier League, quite a feat.

Rangers made a massive profit on the Frenchman, and it allowed McLeish to sign Buffel and Ferguson that same transfer window which spearheaded their title challenge, though it was quickly clear Boumsong wasn’t cut out for Premier League football.

ويدرك وسام أبو علي اهتمام الأهلي بضمه، إلى جانب أندية أخرى، وهو ما أوضحه في تصريحاته التي نشرتها شبكة “nordjyske” الدنماركية.

وقال وسام أبو علي: “لقد تحدثنا بالطبع مع سيريس حول الوضع، ليس سرًا أنني أريد الرحيل إذا جاء العرض المناسب، إذا لم يظهر العرض المناسب، أود أيضًا الاستمرار في اللعب مع فريقي، لأنني ممتن جدًا للطريقة التي عاملني بها النادي منذ انتقالي من فيندسيسيل هذا الصيف”.

وأضاف اللاعب صاحب الـ24 عامًا: “لقد كان أفضل قرار اتخذته على الإطلاق هو انتقالي إلى نادي سيريس”.

وواصل: “في البداية، أنظر فيما إذا كان العرض هو الخطوة الرياضية المناسبة لي، هل هناك تحد مثير وفرصة بالنسبة لي للتطور؟ لن أكذب وأقول إن الجانب المالي لا يلعب دورًا، إنه عامل كذلك”.

وأردف: “قد أكون قادرًا على اللعب حتى عمر 34-35 عامًا، وإذا تمكنت من إحداث تغيير يؤمن لي ولعائلتي من الناحية المادية، فبالطبع هذا أيضًا شيء يلعب دورًا”.

واستمر: “إنه تناقض صارخ تمامًا مع حقيقة أنني كنت مستعدًا منذ عام ونصف لإيقاف مسيرتي أو العثور على نادٍ في مستوى أدنى، يجب أن أشكر مسؤولي فيندسيسيل كثيرًا، لم أكن لأقف هنا اليوم لولا وجود أشخاص مثل هنريك بيدرسن (مدرب فيندسيسيل)”.

وتابع: “أوافق على أنه كلاعب كرة قدم يجب علي أولاً وقبل كل شيء الخروج والأداء على أرض الملعب، لكن وكيلي كروجر كان شخصًا مهمًا جدًا بالنسبة لي منذ أن حصلت عليه”.

وتابع: “لا أعتقد أن أيًا منا توقع أن نكون في هذا الموقف في هذا الوقت عندما دخلنا في موقف الشراكة، لكنه لعب أيضًا دورًا كبيرًا في وصولي إلى هذه النقطة، هو يجيد إرشادي ثم يجعلني أمضي قدمًا”.

وأوضح مجددًا: “ليس من الضروري أن أكون ذكيًا في هذا الأمر، لكني مستعد (للرحيل) إذا سنحت الفرصة، الآن أنا أستمتع بقضاء بعض الوقت مع عائلتي في المنزل في ألبورج”.

واختتم: “ثم علينا أن نرى ما إذا كان العرض المناسب سيظهر، أشعر بأنني مستعد لخوض مغامرة جديدة إذا سنحت لي الفرصة”.

اعترف المهاجم الكونغولي الشاب بنادي لوبومباشي سبورت، ليز نتومبا، بأنه يحلم بالانتقال إلى الأهلي في المستقبل إذا لم يحترف في أوروبا.

ويعد نتومبا أحد هدافين دوري الكونغو الديمقراطية حيث سجل 11 هدفًا في الموسم الحالي، وساهم في تواجد فريقه بالوصافة.

وتحدث نتومبا مع موقع “FootRDC” الكونغولي، وقال: “أتمنى أن ألعب أولًا مع لوبومباشي في بطولات إفريقيا للأندية قبل الرحيل”.

وتابع: “على المستوى الفردي، أريد أن أحسم لقب هداف الدوري قبل الاحتراف في أوروبا، إذا لم يحدث ذلك أتمنى أن ألعب في أعلى الأندية الإفريقية”.

وتابع: “حلمي هو الانتقال إلى الأهلي في مصر أو فيتا كلوب أو حتى سانت إيلوا لوبوبو، فأنا أعمل بجد من أجل تحقيق هذا الحلم”.

وعن سبب رغبته في الرحيل: “نحن نلعب كرة القدم من أجل جني الأموال، لذلك فأنا أعمل من أجل الحصول على عقد جيد في نادٍ كبير”.

Insider ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham United defender Angelo Ogbonna is in contention to play in the Europa Conference League.

What's the latest Angelo Ogbonna and West Ham injury news?

While the club's Premier League form has been iffy at best this season, they've continued to march on with real promise in Europe.

Indeed, David Moyes and co managed to win all their group stages games, as well as both legs of their last-16 clash with AEK Larnaca.

However, they had to settle for a draw when they made the trip to Belgium for their quarter-final match against Gent which ended 1-1 last week.

Seeing as Ogbonna has played in all but two of West Ham's Europa Conference League matches so far, it will be great if he's fit to play on Thursday night.

And despite missing the league draw with Arsenal on Sunday, it seems as though the experienced Italian could return to feature against Gent.

Indeed, while speaking on The West Ham Way Podcast, Ex said (2:43): “Obviously, Ogbonna was due to start the game on Sunday. But he'd had a knock in training, I think which had been a result of the actual game, I think from memory, he went down for quite a long time against Gent on Thursday.

"I assume the injuries from there – and Nayef Aguerd also picked up an injury in the same game.

"But both of them should be available for Thursday, or Bournemouth at the latest. So it's not a massive thing.

"But yeah, Ogbonna's absence was a very last minute thing. And that explains it, but both of them are just minor knocks."

Will Ogbonna start for West Ham against Gent?

When speaking ahead of the 2-2 draw with Arsenal, Moyes explained the absences from his backline, telling the press: “They both tried training yesterday. We thought one of them might make it but they haven’t made it. They’re both carrying knocks. But we don’t think they’re serious.”

And now after Ex's update, it sounds as though there have been no setbacks during the week leading up the West Ham's big European match on Thursday.

That's great news as Ogbonna has been excellent in Europe so far. Indeed, as per SofaScore, he has delivered an average 7.14 match rating each game, keeping four clean sheets in seven matches.

All in all, then, it wouldn't be a surprise if the £70k-p/w defender returned to the starting team against Gent.

The Ange Postecoglou reign at Celtic has seen a number of impressive talents arrive at Parkhead in recent times, with the likes of Reo Hatate, Matt O'Riley and Kyogo Furuhashi having all proven integral to the Greek-Aussie's Hoops revolution.

There have also, however, been a handful of notable outgoings amid the plethora of new additions in Glasgow, with the Old Firm outfit having potentially let a few diamonds slip from their grasp.

On the face of it, it had appeared something of a blow to see young Karamoko Dembele leave the Bhoys last summer, although the 20-year-old has since endured a difficult time of it at Ligue 1 side Stade Brestois, having failed to score or register a single assist in 16 outings in France this season.

Once hailed as a "potential star" – as per The Scottish Sun – amid interest in his services from Manchester City back in 2016, the diminutive winger had come to wider attention after turning out for the Scottish Premiership side's U20's at the age of just 13.

As is so often the case, that early hype – which also saw the London-born speedster described as a "big talent" by Brendan Rodgers – was perhaps more of a burden than a blessing, with the 5 foot 7 ace going on to make just ten first-team appearances for the club in total.

With the forward making way at the end of last season after a campaign disrupted by injury and a slide down the pecking order, there was largely a sense of what might have been among those at Celtic Park, rather than obvious anger at letting the once-promising gem move on to pastures new.

The same may not be said, however, about another academy graduate, Ben Doak, with the 17-year-old already making a fine impression following his move to Premier League side, Liverpool, last year.

While Dembele is currently failing to make his mark in France, Doak has quickly caught the attention of Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, having already notched up five first-team appearances in his new home despite his youth.

The Scotland U21 international – who previously made two senior outings for the Bhoys – has been described as a "huge talent" by journalist Barry Anderson, who also described him as a player who can leave defenders "for dead", such is his "fearless" nature down the flank.

Having opted to move on from Celtic last year – after being tempted by the "top-level" facilities and "standards" on Merseyside – the teenager already has 11 goals and eight assists to his name at youth level this season, including eight goal involvements in just eight UEFA Youth League games.

Such form has even seen the fleet-footed dynamo lauded as an "exciting prospect" by Celtic and Liverpool icon, Kenny Dalglish, while the £180-per-week gem was also hailed as a "natural force" by Klopp after featuring against AC Milan in a friendly back in December.

For the "explosive winger" – as described by talent scout Jacek Kulig – to have already caught the attention of the German coach is a further indication of his talent, with it looking as if the sky is the limit for the Dalry native.

While there will be a sense of pride among those at Paradise to see one of their former assets blossoming elsewhere, it will remain a blow that Postecoglou and co weren't able to have Doak in the first-team picture over an extended period of time.

It’s been a season of reflection for Wolverhampton Wanderers, who have followed on less promisingly from their 10th place finish last year to sitting in 14th currently as the 2022/23 Premier League campaign comes to a close later this month.

There have been lots of talking points for Wolves, as a squad bursting with talent has underperformed in a climate of changing managers and playing styles.

There’s no denying the influx of quality that Nuno Espirito Santo introduced to Wolverhampton from Portugal, however the Portuguese manager missed a trick in not developing one particular star into the system.

Pedro Goncalves signed for Wolves from Valencia U19 to join the clubs’ academy with the hope to blossom into a Premier League starter.

His aspirations were cut short as he returned to his home country two years later, having made just one appearance for the first team in the Carabao Cup against Sheffield Wednesday during his stay.

The winger was sold to Famalicao for peanuts in 2019, where he was shortly after snatched by Sporting Lisbon for around £5m, and the rest is painful viewing for Wolves.

What could have been for Pedro Goncalves at Wolves?

The 24-year-old has broken onto the European scene in dramatic fashion, showing those in the Midlands what they’re missing in a player that has had an outstanding season.

Playing as both a left-winger and central midfielder, the "astonishing" Goncalves – as lauded by The Times' Henry Winter – has scored 20 goals and provided 12 assists in 47 appearances for Sporting this season in all competitions.

To put such goal scoring form into context, his former club have found the net just 29 times themselves in the Premier League so far this campaign. Now flaunting a release clause of €80m (£70m), Wolves are left with a nightmare of what could have been had the Chaves-born star had time to flourish at the club.

The versatile attacker has flexed his ability against English opposition three times this season already, sparking the conversation as to what he could’ve added to the Premier League.

He was the talk of the tie as Sporting knocked Arsenal out of the Europa League, assisting in the first leg and scoring a wonder goal at the Emirates back in March. Prior to his Europa League involvement, the 24-year-old featured in the Champions League, where he assisted against Tottenham Hotspur.

Hindsight is a beautiful thing, but not so much for Wolves who let an overly encouraging young talent slip from their grasp.

During his time in the Midlands, the Portuguese attacker spent his time with the club’s development squad, where he was managed by Rob Edwards. Edwards spoke to Sky Sports earlier this season on Goncalves’ rise in Europe, admitting that the budding star’s success did “not come as a surprise” to him following their time together in England.

Coming towards the end of the season, it has become more evident as to what the youngster could’ve given Wolves, however, the outcome has seen a talent that suffered a confidence denting move find his potential on the biggest stages in Europe.
